Week 12: No Purchases

March 20 - March 26

March is gearing up to be a pretty quiet month for me.  I had skipped my automatic investments for this week as I had deployed additional capital as I watched VFC and TGT drop in previous weeks.  This marks 64 consecutive weeks without paying commissions on my purchases!

Total Invested - $0
Commissions Paid - $0.00
Current Streak - 64 weeks*
Yearly Dividends Added - $0
Yield - 0%

*Paid Commissions fees on selling motifs but not on a purchase in over a year!

  1. That's cool. Can't make buys every week. I strive for monthly buys. There are times I go 2, 3 or 4 or more weeks between buys.

    1. Thanks Keith- feels like a long time since the last time I didn't have a monthly buy. I have recently raised my 401k contributions so I feel okay skipping some weeks here and there in my taxable accounts. I like the patience you have with your purchases. Hope to better manage myself in the future!

  2. I also don't have a weekly buying schedule. I add new funds once a month, and wait until I've collected enough dividends for a larger purchase. But I do appreciate the power of dollar cost averaging into positions, especially if you don't pay any commissions!

    Take care and happy investing!

    1. Dollar cost averaging is a beautiful thing. Especially when you are coming from being an impulsive buyer. If I did pay commissions on my purchases I would not be able to use this strategy on such small purchases so I am very thankful for platforms that help me achieve my goals!
