December Dividend Income

I have collected $636.84 in dividend income so far this year!  This month I received income from TEN different sources. This is five more than November. Compared to 2015 my dividends in December went down by 13.23%.  This is change in my dividend income is due to changes in my portfolio year over year as well as the fact that many of my holdings had paid out dividends in December.

** As always see more charts below thanks to my friend at Two Investing.  If you have not visited his site yet, I strongly recommend you do so. I found his Dividend Spreadsheet extremely useful.  The Screenshots below are from his workbook, which give a good overview of the direction I am headed in.

As always I appreciate everyone who has viewed and commented on my blog.  I strongly encourage you to comment even if you are just messaging that you have visited.  I'd like to hear your thoughts and views.

  1. Hey DM,
Congrats on reaching over $600 of income this year - that's awesome! :)
I like your holdings in MCD, JNJ and MSFT but I'm biased since I own them too. FUSEX is a good fund too that's very cheap.
    Best wishes,

    1. Dividend Life,

Thanks for stopping by! Great to be over last years amount but still missed by a decent amount. I am glad that you have some of the same holdings! I hope to be in the Premium Fund of FUSEX soon after crossing $10,000! Cheers!

  2. Great YoY growth. Your December was off this year. Did you sell stock or suffer a dividend cut?

    1. IH,

Glad to be back - yes, I sold about $10,000 of my stocks before December mostly my FUSEX mutual fund, it was not due to a dividend cut. I plan on buying these back at either a lower price or the Premium Fund so it is at a lower expense ratio.

  3. Keep doing what you are doing. You are clearly on the right path and are building up a nice passive income stream. Just seeing your '15 and '16 comparisons should be enough to motivate anyone to start on their own FI journey. Nice to see several names in common paying us both in Dec. as well as one I might like to add one day, SBUX. Good luck in '17!

    1. Keith,

Means a lot especially since you are one of the blogs I have really been following. SBUX is a great company and I'm sure will be a great addition to your portfolio.

  4. Great YoY growth and I'm looking forward to seeing what 2017 turns out like for you! You've got the right system in place, keep it up! I missed my 2016 passive income total, but that's not the point really is it? it's the progress! Take care,

  5. I enjoyed this post and the reader comments. I've had a look around your site and really like it. You do a really good job with the charts and graphs and that's something that I'd like to play around with myself when I have a bit of time. I've just recently kind of re-launched my fund after emptying it a year ago to pay for grad school. Now that I'm back in the swing of things I am really focusing on long term passive income growth as a large contributor to retirement (still 25-28 years away) and offsetting care costs for my little guy who is on the spectrum. I'm enjoying getting back up to speed on a lot of the blogs I've missed this past year! One semester to go then full speed ahead!

    1. Project Atypical,

Good luck and congrats on it being your last semester of grad school! Unfortunately, sometimes we inevitably need to sell in order to pay for certain things. Education is key so I look forward to your future posts and glad you stopped by.

  6. I like your portfolio a lot. One question, you don't think the market will crash "soon"? Check out my blog www.fromcentstoretirement.com

    1. Benjamin Davis,

Not really worried about a market crash as its not something I can control. I have done my research and invested in strong companies which I believe have a competitive advantage in the long run. It is pretty important to me that I sleep at night and am no worried about what I am invested in. I did stop by your site! Look forward to seeing your path to retirement!
